Shuttle Bus between WNY and Federal Gateway:
Two Abe’s shuttle buses run continuous between the WNY Isaac Hall 6th Street Gate and the Federal Gateway Building. Look for a sign posted on the bus as either Federal Gateway or 1100 New Jersey Ave. The bus will stop at the Second Street entrance first for those who work in the building (door pass required) and will also stop at the New Jersey side entrance to allow visitors to check-in with lobby guard.
Metro Travelers from Virginia:
Take the Orange, Blue or Yellow Line to the L’Enfant Plaza Metro Stop. Exit the train and transfer to the Green Line towards Branch Ave. Exit Metro at Navy Yard Station. Exit toward the New Jersey Ave side of platform, then take escalators up and 1100 New Jersey Ave will be directly across the street.

Ground Transportation from VA:
Take I-395N across the Potomac River and stay to the right of the highway (the road actually turns into 1-295N*). Continue straight and go pass the South Capitol Street exit and look for the “6th Street” exit sign. Take the 6th Street exit that also displays a “Navy Yard” sign. Go down the 6th St. exit to the second traffic light, which will be 7th Street, and make a right turn. Go straight on 7th St and take a right onto M street. Go seven blocks on M Street and take a right onto New Jersey Ave (Note: The Navy Metro Entrance will be on your left.) The main entrance to the building will be on the right side. Metered parking is available on the street and the parking garage is on the 2nd Street side of building (opposite side of the main entrance).
Ground Transportation from Old Town Alexandria:
Take Route 1 North to I-395N, then follow the VA directions cited above.
Ground Transportation from MD (Baltimore):
Take I-95 South to I-495 South towards Richmond. Merge onto I-295 South via exit 22B. Follow I-295 South to Howard Road, via exit 3B. Turn Right onto Howard Rd SE (right onto ramp- then you must get over to the left to stay on this ramp). Bear right (North) onto South Capitol Street SE (this will take you across the Anacostia River). Turn right onto M street, go two blocks, then Turn left onto New Jersey Ave (Note: The Navy Metro Entrance will be on your left.) The main entrance to the building will be on the right side. Metered parking is available on the street and the parking garage is on the 2nd Street side of building (opposite side of the main entrance).
Ground Transportation from Mechanicsburg, PA:
Take Hwy 15 South to I-270 South and take the VA split (NOT towards MD). Merge onto I-495 South (towards Richmond). Take the VA-193 (exit number 43-44) toward George Washington Memorial Parkway, and then merge onto the Parkway via exit number 43. Merge onto I-395 N towards Washington. Follow the VA directions cited above.
Air Travelers:
Fly into DC National Airport then follow the Metro Directions cited above.
Rail Travelers:
Take train to DC Union Station. Take Metro, boarding Red Line toward Shady Grove. Exit train at Gallery Place-Chinatown. Board Green line towards Branch Ave. Exit Metro at Navy Yard Station.
- Technically I-395N exits to the right into the 3rd Street tunnel once you cross into DC, (Do NOT do this). After this point, the road is named the Southeast Freeway (an offshoot of I-295). The change is poorly marked and therefore difficult to identify. Just continue to drive straight ahead and the 6th Street Navy Yard exit will be on the right (see first map).
